In his early career, Sir Richard MacCormac designed several housing schemes in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, though his MacCormac & Jamieson and MacCormac Jamieson Prichard partnerships. These included Chapter House single-person flats in Coffee Hall and small groups of houses for sale in Great Linford, which were seamlessly integrated with the existing village, as well as distinctive "pyramid" houses in Cottisford Crescent, courtyard bungalows for elderly people in Bradwell Common, houses overlooking the canal in Willen Park, terraced homes in Heelands, shared-ownership homes in Great Holm and low-cost housing in Shenley Church End.
In 2009, he returned to Milton Keynes to deliver the first Ray Bellchambers memorial lecture to the local civic society, Milton Keynes Forum, in which he expounded and illustrated his current thinking about sustainable suburbia.
